  Southern University of Science and Technology,abbreviated as"South University of Science and Technology",is a national comprehensive reform experimental school for higher education and a key construction university for high-level universities in Guangdong Province.It is a full-time public ordinary higher education institution led and managed by Guangdong Province.It is an innovative university founded in Shenzhen,with the goal of quickly building an international high-level research university.South University of Science and Technology focuses on science,engineering,and medicine,while also possessing some distinctive humanities and social sciences as well as management disciplines.In December 2010,the Ministry of Education agreed to establish Southern University of Science and Technology.In April 2012,the Ministry of Education agreed to establish Southern University of Science and Technology and assigned the school the goal of exploring a modern university system with Chinese characteristics and exploring innovative talent training models.In May 2018,Southern University of Science and Technology was approved as a doctoral degree granting institution,becoming the fastest university in China to obtain doctoral authorization.[1]As of March 2019,Southern University of Science and Technology has signed contracts to introduce more than 800 teachers.Among the more than 300 teaching and research sequence teachers,there are 27 academicians(10 full-time academicians),35 international academicians,72 national special experts,85 national special experts(young),and 22 special experts appointed by the Ministry of Education;The campus covers an area of 2969.7 acres,with a planned construction area of over 900000 square meters;Having a graduate school and 18 departmental centers;26 interdisciplinary research centers will be constructed in stages(4 have been initiated);The school adopts a academy system of management,with a total of 6 academies established;Approved to build 9 provincial and ministerial level scientific research platforms and 27 municipal level scientific research platforms;The school has 4 doctoral degree authorization points in first level disciplines,6 master's degree authorization points in first level disciplines,and 1 engineering master's degree authorization point;Offering 29 undergraduate majors.As of September 12,2018,there were 4029 undergraduate students and 1352 master's and doctoral students.
